We Looked Like Giants

Pauline's piece of drunk wisdom, confided to me last night: "Alice, the stars are nice, but cars are better. Remember that."
Lounging around in bed, listening to Death Cab and reading the Times all morning is wonderful. I might need food soon though...
Last night was...interesting. In a good way. Usually I don't know any people at the parties we end up at because we're usually the only freshmen there, but I ran into a bunch of my friends last night and it was actually kind of cool. The best was Lorenzo, who gave me a free beer and we chatted for a few mintues. I have to say though, the best part of last night was the walk home, when I was by myself.* It wasn't that late, maybe around midnight or one, and I could hear everything that was going on around campus. I could hear the people in the Butt Hut and the people singing and yelling in the dorms and the car alarms going off and the sirens down the street. It was nice outside and the stars were out and it really felt like home for the first time. I felt like I really belonged there and it was the best feeling I've had in a while. That being said, I CAN'T WAIT to go home on Tuesday and see my mom and Gil and EC and Diana. And Winky. And Eve. And the mountains. I have two homes now.
*It was safe, I swear. Just two or three blocks on a well-lit street. That's what they all say, isn't it?
